Health and safety - control measures. |

A list of control measures has been
mapped out in the Approved Code of
Practice to the COSHH Regulations.
The code of practice measures are:
- Prevent exposure by
discontinuing the hazardous
activity altogether;
- Substitute the activity for
a less hazardous one;
- Enclose the hazardous
activity or separate the
activity from the people by
other means;
- Reduce the numbers of people
exposed to the hazard;
- Reduce the period of
exposure;
- Provide personal protective
equipment.

Dismissal for out-of-hours activities:
In the November case of Pay v Lancashire
Probation Service (Times, 27 November 2003
EAT) Mr Pay was a probation officer who in
his spare time performed shows at 'hedonist
and fetish clubs' and sold various bondage
products through the internet.
