The information that you should
seek about prospective candidates will be concerning experience,
skills and expectations for career. Asking the right questions
will help you pick the best candidate for the position, and help
minimise the chance of the candidate not performing in the job.
DO ASK:
Generally, focus on skills and the experience of the candidate
and the qualifications needed to perform the job. When interviewing,
many of your questions will depend on the position in question.
Ask about education, qualifications and past jobs; previous
specific responsibilities; likes and dislikes about previous
jobs; what was learnt whilst doing the previous job; previous
challenges; previous workplace interaction; accomplishments;
professional references; why did candidate leave previous job?
goals and expectations for new job and expected salary; what
can the candidate bring to the new job; what would the candidate
like to get from the new job? Has the candidate got a portfolio?
Has the candidate got a good contact base? |
