Recruitment - newspapers

Newspaper advertisements are a traditional way of getting your message to a great number of potential employees. These can be included in local newspapers and trade magazines.

National papers such as The Guardian and The Times have recruitment sections. Some of these deal with a different sector of industry each day. Some papers have a restricted socio-economic grouping reading them. Therefore you have to identify where your ideal candidate will come from. The socio-economic group which reads The Times or the readership of The Mirror.

There are also specialised papers where you can advertise jobs nationally. The key one is Job Hunters Guide.

Trade magazines are usually a good place to advertise for candidates looking for a particular career path and not just looking for any job.

Local newspapers will allow you to make sure you get candidates who live in your travel-to-work area, but may restrict the base of quality candidates in some parts of the country.
