Health and safety - Inspections

A safety inspection programme should include a regular programme of walk-rounds in a defined area. The purpose is to identify new hazards and to monitor any control measures intended to control existing risks.

Checking Documentation

Some machinery and equipment require test and examination at specified intervals. Employers will often be prompted by the testing body. However, it is the duty of the employer and not the agent to see that the law is complied with. A register and a diary can be set up to ensure that the frequencies are not exceeded.

Planned Preventative Maintenance

This maintenance involves setting up a system to test and examine, on a routine basis, plant and machinery, followed by any necessary remedial action. A diary of planned work can be created.
