Harassment - General

This is unwanted conduct of any nature which is unwelcome or offensive to the recipient.

Each individual has personal boundaries. Transgressing them goes beyond behaviours which are of a socially acceptable nature. Harassment is behaviour which is unsolicited, personally offensive and that fails to respect the rights of others, in the workplace. It lowers morale and interferes with work effectiveness.

Sexual and racial harassment are manifestations of a lack of respect for an individual and are harassing behaviours focused on gender and race.

Other harassment may relate to disability, or focus on how members of minority groups within the community are individually treated within the organisation.
