Disciplinary Procedures

Contracts of employment should include disciplinary procedures to be followed before an employee can be dismissed.

Failure to apply fairly, agreed disciplinary procedures can lead to an otherwise fair dismissal being treated by the Employment Tribunal as unfair, leading to a substantial claim for compensation.

As a employee, ensure you have read and understand these procedures, it is often the the case that dismissed employees do not realise that their rights within the contract have been overlooked.
