Statutory rights of employees |
 |
An employee becomes entitled to
statutory rights (i.e. laid down by law) upon entering into an
employment contract. A number of these rights depend upon the
employee having attained a qualifying period of employment. The
main rights are described in more detail below.
Itemised pay statements
An itemised pay statement must be issued
to all employees at the time of payment and must include the
following particulars:
Gross earnings
Net pay
Fixed and variable deductions from gross earning.
If the net
pay is paid in different ways, the amount and method of payment
of each part payment
Employees may raise a complaint with an
employment tribunal if the employer fails to issue a pay statement
or if
the content is in dispute. |
