Compromise Agreements Explained |
 |
WHY COMPROMISE AGREEMENTS?
If you settle a dispute with your employer, it can be important
to have details of that settlement in writing and for the agreement
to have legal effect. This helps ensure that the terms of the
agreement are clearly understood and that neither side goes back
on the agreement.
A settlement can be finalised through a private agreement between
the parties, through a formal agreement brokered by the Advisory,
Conciliation & Arbitration Service (ACAS) and recorded on
one if its COT3 agreement forms, or through a compromise agreement.
ACAS brokered agreements and compromise agreements have become
increasingly common in recent years because they are a legally
recognised and safe way of settling disputes and minimise the
danger of future complications or problems.
